Useful resources: Wikispaces

Hi everyone,

Today I want to share with you another of the platforms we will be using this course, it's called Wikispace. I'm sure you've heard about wikis before, just like Wikipedia. Wikispace is very similar, now we all have a common space where we can share and edit content.

You will find the class' Wikispace on this LINKEvery week we will use our wiki for different tasks, but what makes it very interesting is that in Wikispace we can all edit and modify the content, so we can all participate. For example, if we prepare a debate, we can post some of our aguments in there, and see if others refute our ideas.  We can also use it for creative works like songs, poems or short stories in which we can all participate. I can post a story prompt so we can start a collective short story. Another possible project is a report, if we work in groups, we can all edit the content and keep adding information. You will find another post there with some ideas.

Also, I have added a new task in Wikispace you will be able to see it in the "Pages" section, or in this link.

Remember! You must log in first  to be able to see our wiki, if you have any problems or doubts, let me know.

Don't forget to check it out!

Useful resources: Symbaloo

Hello everyone,

Today I want to share with you a very useful tool: Symbaloo.

Symbaloo is an "organizer" type of website, it will help us manage and share our favorite resources in bookmarks. It is very easy to use, and just as this blog we will have one for the class. Symbaloo's bookmarks are organized in "webmixes", basically, a group of diferent bookmarks. This is going to be very useful for us, you can suggest content, and once we add it to our symbaloo it will be available for all of us to check at all times, all in the same place. We can all think about resources that we can share in: diccionaries, online encyclopedias, online execrcises, audiovisual material, anything!

Here you'll find the LINK to the class' webmix, I will be posting different resources that we are going to be using so we can find them easily. Remember: You don't have to log in to see the webmix content! So don't stress ;).

Here's a sneakpeak of some bookmarks that I have added:

Let me know what you think, and don't forget to suggest content so we can share it with the class!

Regards,

xx

Our Blog rules

Hello everyone,

I think it is extremely relevant to have a set of rules in the blog for the students to follow; this can avoid many problematic situations, like inappropriate language or cyber bullying.  Also I think it is important for the students to know the limits of their participation in the blog and how to contribute to it.  Also students must remember the blog’s ultimate purpose and respect it.

First things first, in order to have a nice and respecful blog for the class we must follow the following rules (including the ones you have in the picture):
  • The blog is for the class to have a common place to share useful information, so any inappropiate or irrelevant content will not be allowed.

  • You are expected to contribute and participate actively in the blog through the comment section. Express your thoughts and opinions as clearly as posible and DO NOT copy cut other's text.
  • Any disrespectul or inapprpiate behavior (in the comments) is strictly banned, No nicknames allowed, and you should always comment under your own identity. Remember our blog is a space for sharing and contribute to the subject.
  • You MUST use proper English grammar. Any swear words, slang or text talk will not be allowed.

Welcome everybody!!
